Looks like my typing speed is only 43 words per minute. No chance of being a secretary now. But not to worry though, I will still be my hubby's private secretary. Care to try out your skill ? Go to Typingtest now ...

Scars Of Life

Some years ago, on a hot summer day in South Florida, a little boy decided to go for a swim in the old swimming hole behind his house. In a hurry to dive into the cool water, he ran out the back door, leaving behind shoes, socks, and shirt as he went. He flew into the water, not realizing that as he swam toward the middle of the lake, an alligator was swimming toward the shore.

His father, working in the yard, saw the two as they got closer and closer together. In utter fear, he ran toward the water, yelling to his son as loudly as he could. Hearing his voice, the little boy became alarmed and made a U-turn to swim to his father. It was too late. Just as he reached his father, the alligator reached him.

From the dock, the father grabbed his little boy by the arms just as the alligator snatched his legs.. That began an incredible tug-of-war between the two.. The alligator was much stronger than the father, but the father was much too passionate to let go.

A farmer happened to drive by, heard his screams, raced from his truck, took aim and shot the alligator. Remarkably, after weeks and weeks in the hospital, the little boy survived. His legs were extremely scarred by the vicious attack of the animal. And, on his arms, were deep scratches where his father's fingernails dug into his flesh in his effort to hang on to the son he loved.

The newspaper reporter who interviewed the boy after the trauma, asked if he would show him his scars. The boy lifted his pant legs. And then, with obvious pride, he said to the reporter, 'But look at my arms. I have great scars on my arms, too.. I have them because my Dad wouldn't let go.'

You and I can identify with that little boy. We have scars, too. No, not from an alligator, but the scars of a painful past. Some of those scars are unsightly and have caused us deep regret. But, some wounds, my friend,
are because God has refused to let go.
In the midst of your struggle, He's been there holding on to you..

The Scripture teaches that God loves us. You and I are a child of God. He wants to protect us and provide for us in every way. But sometimes we foolishly wade into dangerous situations, not knowing what lies ahead.. The swimming hole of life is filled with peril - and we forget that the enemy is waiting to attack. That's when the tug-of-war begins - and if we have the scars of His love on our arms, be very, very grateful. He did not and will not ever let us go.

Please pass this on to those you love.. God has blessed you, so that you can be a blessing to others. You just never know where a person is in his/her life and what they are going through. Never judge another person's scars, because you don't know how they got them. Also, it is so important that we are not selfish, to receive the blessings of these messages, without forwarding them to someone else. Right now, someone needs to know that God loves them, and you love them, too - enough to not let them go .

GOD BLESS YOU

California, US

**Updated**

Ok, i just came back from shopping. And I spent more money on buying shirts and pants for Daniel, wallet for Dad and Bro, Levis belt for syg and Levis jeans for me... Huhuhuhu....

**Previous**

I am now at El Segundo, California, US.

Weather here is nice - sunny and cold. Interesting huh...
Did a lot of shopping, in fact, over the limit. Things here are cheap, compared to Malaysia.

Can't help myself... Hehehehhe...
Let see what I bought:

  1. Levis Jeans (2 pairs for $29.99 per pair);
  2. PS3;
  3. 3 PS3 games for the price of 2 ($19.99 for one);
  4. 3 Hollywood t-shirts;
  5. Fridge magnet;
  6. 2 GAP toddlers t-shirt;
  7. 1 GAP toddlers pants;
  8. 1 CK One ($35.00);
  9. 1 CK Be ($35.00);

Not to mention some are spent on food and tips... Gosh, paying tips itself, I think I spent about $10 already.

And I am going to ROSS later some more. I guess its gonna burn my pocket some more... Oh gosh...

Well, I don't get the chance to go US every now and then. So, yeah, why not ? Why not be prudent on spending huh ? Can't help myself. Oh gosh, I am rambling here. I need to take control of myself. Luckily, I haven't been speding much for the last 3 months. Is that suppose to be words of consolation ? I guess so...

Okie guys... Off to ROSS ... And more shopping .... :( or is it :) ?

Something For Us To Ponder ...

A saint asked his disciples, 'Why do we shout in anger? Why do people shout at each other when they are upset?'

Disciples thought for a while, one of them said, 'Because we lose our calm, we shout for that.'

'But, why to shout when the other person is just next to you?' asked the saint. 'Isn't it possible to speak to him or her with a soft voice? Why do you shout at a person when you're angry?'

Disciples gave some other answers but none satisfied the saint.

Finally he explained,

'When two people are angry at each other, their hearts distance a lot. To cover that distance they must shout to be able to hear each other. The angrier they are, the stronger they will have to shout to hear each other through that great distance.'

Then the saint asked, 'What happens when two people fall in love? They don't shout at each other but talk softly, why? Because their hearts are very close. The distance between them is very small...'

The saint continued, 'When they love each other even more, what happens? They do not speak, only whisper and they get even closer to each other in their love. Finally they even need not whisper, they only look at each other and that's all. That is how close two people are when they love each other.'

“Speak less to the people u like the most.If they don’t understand ur silence they can never understand your words."

Still Awaiting My Passport and Ticket

I will be going off to Beijing on Mon, ETD 0010.

I am still waiting for the Travel Agent to send my passport and ticket. They said tonight they will send it to my house.

Still comtemplating whether to ask my brother to fetch me to airport or take a cab on my own.
Daniel will be staying over at his po-po's place.
Hope he will be alright. I am sure he will be as my mum is taking care of him.
Just afraid that he misses me and wondering why mummy didn't pick him up at night.

Won't be doing much sight-seeing at Beijing coz I have been to the tourists area. Furthermore, need to pay on my own this time, dun wan la...
Better save the money. After all, I am spending quite a lot this time for 2 trips back-to-back.

Sipping Vodka At The Pulpit

Lets have a good laugh, and relax...

A new priest at his first mass was so nervous he could hardly speak.
After mass he asked the monsignor how he had done.
The monsignor replied, 'When I am worried about getting nervous on the pulpit, I put a glass of vodka next to the water glass. If I start to get nervous, I take a sip.'

So next Sunday he took the monsignor's advice. At the beginning of the sermon, he got nervous and took a drink. He proceeded to talk up a storm.

Upon his return to his office after the mass, he found the following note on the door:

1) Sip the vodka, don't gulp.
2) There are 10 commandments, not 12..
3) There are 12 disciples, not 10.
4) Jesus was consecrated, not constipated.
5) Jacob wagered his donkey, he did not bet his ass.
6) We do not refer to Jesus Christ as the late J.C.
7) The Father, Son, and Holy Ghost are not referred to as Daddy, Junior and the spook.
8) David slew Goliath; he did not kick the shit out of him.
9) When David was hit by a rock and was knocked off his donkey, don't say he was stoned off his ass.
10) We do not refer to the cross as the 'Big T.'
11) When Jesus broke the bread at the last supper he said, 'Take this and eat it for this is my body.' He did not say 'Eat me.'
12) The Virgin Mary is not called 'Mary with the Cherry.'
13) The recommended grace before a meal is not: Rub-A-Dub-Dub thanks for the grub, Yeah God.
14) Next Sunday there will be a taffy pulling contest at St. Peter's not a peter pulling contest at St. Taffy's.

'Judge Not For Ye Shall Be Judged'

That was the homily given by Fr Michael yesterday when we had our BEC mass at Tony and Sandra's house.

How true it is and yet how very often we fail to follow God's teachings ?
How many times I have judged others ?
How many times I have spoken ill about others ?
It seems so simple, yet it is so hard.
That's why Jesus is the Son of God, perfect in everyway.
We are often called to live as He had lived, to love as He had loved. Did we do that ?

Its time for confession. God knows how long I have not receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

Sleep Deprived

I am so sleepy...

Thanks to Air Asia who delay its flight from Langkawi last night, not once but TWICE !
So, instead of arriving to LCCT at 2340, it arrives at 0205.
And my little brother didn't even give me a call saying that is has been delayed again 2nd time.
he said he sent me a message, but I didn't receive. The least you could do is to ring me up, right !
That is the least courtesy I expect from my own bro !

I reached LCCT at 0105 and I had to wait an hour, wondering where the hell is the stupid plane.
And his phone was off.
I was in such a foul mood yesterday, and today, I am just plain exhausted.

Thanks to Air Asia again for the stupid delay.

Photos of Daniel with Cows' Milk Allergy

Wonder if you can see that his eyes had actually started to swollen abit. And he was having mild fever at this time. It is around 7pm on Sunday. By 12 midnight, his eyes were so swollen and he was developing high fever.

At around 8.30pm. This was how his body looked like with the rashes.

Cows' Milk Allergy

Though I have heard about it for awhile, but to really see that it is happening to Daniel is a brand new experience for me.

I have been to 3 paeditrician at 3 different clinics. The 1st one gave me Atarax to suppress the histamine that causes rashes on the body but couldnt find out the cause or the allergen.

The 2nd doc asked me to avoid food like berries, legumes, fish, white egg, egg yolk, seafood and nuts as these food can cause skin allergy on babies. She further gave me Zytrex to suppress the histamine, as well as changing body bath to a non-soap type. Sad to say, Daniel's rashes never went off at all. But his rashes were more like dots of red on the body.

It was until we finished the medicine and decided to see for a day or two his condition without medicine, then only the real prob came up. 1st day without medicine, his body started developing red patches. By second day, we bought a new type of milk, same brand that he took when he was 1 month old but that didn't help. His fae started to swell a bit and by night time, he started to develop high fever and both his eyes are swollen. Not to mention he was scratching his face coz it was so itchy. Brought him to the 24 hours clinic (coz it was midnight), doc gave him medicine to relieve fever and itchiness temporarily.

By morn, fever was still high and on/off. And that was on Mon, 2nd day of Raya. So I brought him to SMC to see his paeditrician. And while on the way, I tried to recall when the rashes really started. By the time I reached, I made a conclusion on my own - it was due to the cow's milk.

When his doc came by, I related to him what had happened, how many docs I have seen, what medicine Daniel had taken, etc... I also told him about my suspicion on cow's milk. The doc then asked me to try switching to soy milk and see what happen. Atarax and Zytrex is only temp solution as we still need to find out what causes the allergy.

Now, it has been 4 days without the medicine, adn Daniel no longer develop those kind of big red patches. He may still occasionally have red dots here and there, but I firmly believe we have finally found the root cause of his skin allergy - Cows' Milk Allergy.

As I am still breastfeeding him, food which contain milk are stuff I need to avoid for now. Maybe its time to think of stopping to breastfeed him. But I still loves to breastfeed him, so I am in a dilemma at the moment. Let just see after my trip from US.

PS3 Slim

This is what I am planning to buy at US later - PS 3 slim at the price of $299.99 or $299.00. Much cheaper compared to in Malaysia. Got Blu-Ray capability, WiFi, etc...

Um, muaahhhh... Can't wait to get my hand on this one... Hehehehe....

Happy Deepavali

I just wanna wish all my Indian friends and colleagues a very Happy and Blessed Deepavali.

Phase 3A at the National Space Centre

Yippie !!!!

The project will finally start next week, with site possession by the Main Contractor of the project.

After 3 years, it is finally hitting ground - and this is gonna be my second house, the AIT facility which will houses 6 test equipments to test a spacecraft.

Nancy Drew, CSI, Restaurant Empire II

Yeah, I just bought those games (actually I got it after Raya, when my colleague came back from Kelantan) and I just installed all the games, except for CSI. It has some error while installing, the famous CRC error. My friend said he will pass me the dvd he managed to copy from mine. Hopefully that is ok. Else, can I get a refund ?

Now I don't have to worry I will be bored at Beijing and El Segundo. I am sure there are things that will keep me occupied now. Hehehehehe...

Mafia Wars ...

I am addicted to this right now.

I need to learn to have some self control. I can avoid the game just as I have avoided Vampire and Fluff.

Why lar FB got so many games ?

Selamat Hari Raya

To all my Muslim friends...

Selamat Menyambut Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

ACRS 2009

30th Asian Conference on Remote Sensing

Will be held at Beijing this year. On our paper got selected for the oral presentation.
So I will be going to Beijing next month.

A bit tight on the schedule. 18 - 23 Oct in Beijing, 24 Oct - 1 Nov in US. I think I won't be staying long at Beijing this time. Will probably fly back to Malaysia after my presentation. Kesian Daniel kena kasi tinggal lama-lama oh.

US VISA

I will be leaving for US next month, so I went and did my Visa the day before yesterday.

Not easy as I first need to pay RM500 at Alliance Bank to obtain the Visa application number. Next, I need to book my appointment online and finally, be there at the embassy for the interview.

The interview wasnt long - about 5 mins. It was the waiting that was long. I wonder why do many people wanna go to US ?I kinda expect that with the H1N1 pandemic, not many people applying, but boy, I was wrong.

Anyway, the officer who interviewed me is very friendly. No problem whatsoever. He is approving a 10-year Visa for me. But I have yet to receive my passport back, so I'll just cross my fingers for now and hope that it is really 10 years. RM500 is alot (though I can claim back from government in the end... )

Can't wait to go US. Heard that branded stuff overthere are cheaper than here in Malaysia. ANyone wanna kirim anything ? Duit dulu yeah... Gua tada duit lor.. Hehehehe....

1 Month

Yup, syg has been in japan for a month already.

Missing him lots.... :(

And these few days wasn't able to "Skype" with him coz he did not bring his laptop along to Kobe. Will have to wait until tonight, when he returns to Yokohama.

Syg, if you are reading this - to take care over there yeah. Lots of hugs and kisses from Daniel and me...
Muaaahhhh

Happy Birthday To Nana

It's Nana's birthday on the 8th September. In fact, I was so afraid that I forgotten her birthday, I ended up wishing a Happy Belated Birthday. Well, you may think that I have indeed forgotten about it, except that I wished her on the 3rd September - which is still early.

Hehehehe... Ni la ni kerja shift. Hari apa pun da konpius.

Finally, I think wished her on the day.

Emmm, here is to Nana - may you always be filled with joy and much blessings from The Almighty.
God bless you. Muuuahhhh...

What's Up With Little Daniel ?

Daniel is getting bigger and heavier now, though doc did say he is still underweight. Hehehehe, must be from the mother's gene. But daddy was skinny when he was small also.

Anyway, Daniel was fast in moving his hands and legs. He can turn over when he was only 3 months, sit up when he was only 5 months, stands up when he was 6 - 7 months and now he crawls like a bullet train. And he has this cute way of crawling. Just imagine him on 4 legs (no knees yeah), open wide a.k.a terkangkang and butt sticking up. Hehehe, sure funny ...

And he crawls all the way to the kitchen whenever he knows I will be there to cook for him porridge, or to make milk-milk for him. And the appliances he like most is the washing mashine, which I don't know why. And now, he knows that by putting his hand on the drawer handle and pulls it, voila, the drawer is open. I always have to stand in front of the drawer to prevent him from opening.

And boy, he so love porridge. I always cooked porridge for him now after he has this skin allergy called hives. Hives is harmless by the way, but it saddened me to see red patches on his body. So, I will have to avoid food, in fact most of the food I can't eat except vege and chicken or pork meat. No eggs, fish, seafood, legumes, berries, nuts, etc.... I think I am going nut but hey, for the sake of my baby, I will sacrifice... Ceh wah.... So, whenever I cooked porridge for him, I'll cook for myself as well. Satu kali kerja ma.. My mum taught me what to put in, and its damn nutritious you know - potato, carrot, meat, brocolli, sometimes spinach. So, Daniel is in fact eating a huge plate of porridge nowadays.

And he goes to sleep early too. Well, I guess its because he don't sleep much during the day, 1 hour here and there. So, at night, he will be breast-fed and he normally doze off in the middle of it, still suckling but eyes closed. And he sleeps till next morn. Seldom wakes up in the middle of the night, only occasionally.

Each moment with him is sure a joy. Little angel who knows how to kiss you on the lips if you puckered up to him, hehehehe, and raises his hand to say bye bye. I wanna teach him how to salam next time.

That's all on Daniel at the moment. Hehehehe, syg, dun be sad yeah.. We will see you soon. Muuaahhhh....

Schumi Cancel His Plans

Looks like I will not be able to enjoy F1 this upcoming week. Schumi cancelled his plans to step in for Massa due to concerns on his neck injuries.

What to do.... Safety comes first....

The Return Of F1 Superhero

Yup - Michael Schumacher is returning to F1 racing.

It was actually Massa's injury that prompted Schumi to come back, since Ferrari will be left with only 1 driver. Massa was hit by an object that falls off from Rubens's car (which makes me wonder - Is Brawn's car not safe at all ? ) and had to undergo operation. He is now awake but doc rules out racing for the time being.

Naturally, and logically, Schumi was requested to fill-in as he is one of the best in Ferrari and perhaps in the whole F1.

Now the season should be more interesting, and I sure look forward to it ....

Go go go Schumi !!!!

Home Alone With Daniel For 3 Months

Yup... that will be the case for upcoming 3 months.

My syg is leaving for Japan next week and will only be back in November. Huhu... I am going to miss him so much... Usually I am the one going overseas most of the time. Now is my syg's turn.

I sure gonna miss him. Maybe if I have enough savings, I will go over to Japan. Cuti-cuti Japan ma .... Kekekeke...

Change In Work Routine

Following the succesfull launch of RazakSAT, there is a change now in my work routine. No longer I enjoy the benefit of working 8 - 5.

My work timing now is 7 am to 7pm, next day 7pm tp 7am, and off on the third day. Fourth day is back to 7am to 7pm. So, in total, I worked 60 hours every week instead of 40 hours. And I worked on Sat and Sun as well. You must be wondering if I do get any off days. Well, I do. In fact, every 3rd week of the month, I work morning shift (7am to 7pm) and I get off on Sat, Sun and Mon. Sounds cool huh ? But is much more tiring, as I get less than 6 hours of rest.

Wonder if there is any incentives for us that works on shift basis ?

Finally - RazakSAT Is Launched

After years and years of putting it off, finally RazakSAT blasted off from the ground on 3.35 UTC, 14th July 2009 from Omelek Island at Kwajelein Atoll using Falcon-1 rocket.

Now I truly understand what it feels like tobe able to see the satellite successfully launched into its orbit. And it is a special orbit indeed - the first satellite to ever orbit from this position - Near Equatorial Orbit. So this means, it passes over Malaysia and other equatorial countries more frequently compared to a sun-synchronous orbit.

To watch the video of the launch, just go here ....

Istanbul Trip

This is way too long to update on my last trip, but nevetheless, I shall do it...

Istanbul was certainly a great trip - one that I enjoyed much, coz not much pressure. Adalah sikit-sikit gabrah time want to present. Nasib baik my presentation is on Day 1. After presentation, enjoy sakan ...

The day when we arrived pun da start enjoy .... Kekekeke, we took our time to visit all the famous places like Tokapi Palace, Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Grand Bazaar, Spice Market and its surrounding area. Best part is, all these places are within walking distance. No matter how near, by 5pm (Isttanbul time) we were already dragging our feet. We felt so tired that we dont have the energy to continue further. Can't blame us - we made a transit earlier at Dubai, and the seat in MAS wasnt really at all comforting. It was the old Airbus, and the business class seats was not like Boeing.

But we did enjoyed the first day. It was an eye opening trying to bargain our way at Grand Bazaar. The traders were all trying to be friendly, but we have learned that it was part of their way to get us stay at their shop and try to sell things to us. The same goes to traders at Spice Market. They go all out to attempt some friendly conversations. And most of the time - they start off with saying hello - be it in Mandarin, Japanese, Korean but never in BM. What you expect - 2 Chinse looking fellas walking around.

We did try and eat fresh fish sandwishes as well, though by the time we really get to eat the sandwiches, it was cold already. But delicious nevertheless.

We were also treated to a boat trip along the Bosphorous River. It was truly a magnificant view - on one side is the Eastern Turkey and the other side is the Europe Turkey. Luckily we were attending the conference. All participants of the conference were treated to a boat tour on the 1st day itself.

Rest of the days were spent in the Military Museum, attending conference. On the 2nd last day, we did walked around some more - along the Istikal Caddesi or Road if Independence. Bought more souvenirs (a.k.a Turkish delights) for family and friends. Hope our bag doesnt go over the limit of 20kg.

Now, for the photos ....

Since I have problem uploading the photos here, kindly go to my Facebook to view yeah ... :)

Unbelievably Long

Yes, it is unbelievably long (not even sure I spelled it correctly) since I last updated my blog. There are lots of things that I wanna share, but just couldnt find the will to type it out...

Tonight, I wanna post some updates - on myself, my life, my llittle Daniel, things that are going on around, things that facinates me, things that worries me ....

Here I go ....

BEWARE OF ROAD BULLY WHO DRIVES (GREEN) AVANZA WRW 8402

Recently, The Star reported about a man in his 30's bashed up a pensioner of 72 years just because the pensioner honked him for swerving in so suddenly without using the indicator.

If any of you notice the above car - TOYOTA AVANZA (Green) WRW 8402, go straight to the police station and report. Do not engage with the pscyhopathic driver yourself.

The parents apparently never taught this guy how to treat people who is elder than him. Maybe this guy has some mental problem. Better send him to Tanjung Rambutan for admission.

A Simple But Wonderful Prayer

Dear Lord, I thank You for this day,
I thank You for my being able to seeand to hear this morning.
I'm blessed because You area forgiving God and an understanding God.
You have done so much for me and You keep on blessing me.

Forgive me this day for everything I have done, said or thought that was not pleasing to you.
I ask now for Your forgiveness. Please keep me safe from all danger and harm.
Help me to start this day with a new attitude and plenty of gratitude.
Let me make the best of each and every day to clear my mind so that I can hear from You.

Please broaden my mind that I can accept all things.
Let me not whine and whimper over things I have no control over.
And give me the best response when I'm pushed beyond my limits.
I know that when I can't pray, You listen to my heart.

Continue to use me to do Your will.
Continue to bless me that I may be a blessing to others.
Keep me strong that I may help the weak...
Keep me uplifted that I may have words of encouragement for others.

I pray for those that are lost and can't find their way.
I pray for those that are misjudged and misunderstood.
I pray for those who don't know You intimately.
I pray for those that will delete this without sharing it with others.
I pray for those that don't believe.

But I thank You that I believe that God changes people and God changes things.
I pray for all my sisters and brothers.
For each and every family member in their households.

I pray for peace, love and joy in their homes;
that they are out of debt and all their needs are met.
I pray that every eye that reads this knows there is no problem, circumstance, or situation greater than God.
Every battle is in Your hands for You to fight.

I pray that these words be received into the hearts of every eye that sees it.
Amen!

Istanbul, Here I Come !!!!!

Yippie... Leaving for Istanbul next Tues night to present a paper in a conference - Recent Advances in Space Technologies 2009.

Had been browsing the net for tourists attraction in Istanbul. Can't wait to visit The Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, The Grand Bazaar, Hippodrome, Yerebatan Saray, Topkapi and Istikal Caddesi (which is very near to our hotel and conference area - Taksim Square)

Will blog more after I come back .... Heheheheh..

Wonder how Daniel will fare during my absence. Daddy of course cannot give him fresh 'milk milk'... Ummm, hope Egbert will be ok. I will be gone for 6 long days... Huhuhuhu, pooor little Daniel ....

Finally ....

After months of thinking and contemplating, I finally submitted my resignation letter to the priest.

I am now announcing that I am no longer the Head of Liturgy and PPC Secretary.

WHat a relieve I now felt. Now, I can serve the church with more heart - a lighter heart.

Ironically, it was Fr David Reagan's homily that prompted me to firmly made up my mind. He said, we as Catholics are unique people. We don't go around evangelizing to people and asking them to join Catholic Church. But evangelization begins at home, with our family. The love we share with each other, is the love of Christ. I truly believe that.

So, when I reflect back my life ever since the job was 'placed' unto me, I seem to 'lose a bit' of my family.

I need to choose - between the post and my family. I choose my family. In fact, I should have realize - my family has always been my first choice. No doubt about that. In one organization, you cannot have two 'heads'. And the Bible tells us that husbands are like Christ, they are the head of the family. Wives are like the church, they are the hands and feets of Christ. They should follow the husbands.

Well, tata to heartache. I will now serve the church from the back, and Daniel can have his mommy full-time now... Heheheheh...

All well ends well....

The 'True' Side of YBs

Everyone knows that the much awaited Perak Assembly finally began yesterday, and has definately open up our eyes to the true behaviours of the so-called 'Yang Berhormat'.

I won't elaborate on what had taken place. You can read it at TheStar for minutes-to-minutes updates.

It has just got me ponder - the lure of power is so great, that everyone is dashing for it and they don't care who they got to 'kill' just to get some power. Politics are real dirty game the way I look at it now...

Our 'YBs' don't even have the decency to raise matters - they must shout at the top of their lungs ... Like small kid huh ... I think that it what they are, they are angry that their toys are taken away.

Can we have people working together in harmony, to give and take (and not take and take only). That way, the concept of 1Malaysia will truly be achievable.

Daniel is laughing his heart out...

A Prayer for Baby Alden

A message from GIFT member:

Dear All,

One of our former GIFT members (batch 1997-2001) needs our help. Let us all pray for Marilyn John Sibatu's family. Her 5 month old son, Alden Joey Laison was admitted to ICU last Wednesday [22nd March 2009]. He had serious episodes of seizures and after further testing, the doctors found out that there are some bleeding in his brain. His condition is very serious as this can lead to severe brain damage. We (Joyce Siambun & I) went to visit baby Alden at Hospital Likas this afternoon and how our heart breaks looking at him lying on the bed with all those tubes and machines attached to his 5 months old body. He had tears at the corner of his eyes. According to Marilyn, baby Alden is unable to open his eyes since he was admitted because his eyes are bleeding too. Marilyn keeps talking to him, comforting him and telling him that mommy's friends came to visit. Please pass this on to everyone who knows her and let us all pray for the recovery of poor baby Alden. May God bless their family.

-Mimi-

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Jesus our redeemer and healer, we offer baby Alden into Your mighty, powerful and loving hands. Please have mercy on this poor little child, have mercy on this baby who has not opened his eyes to the sins of this world. We pray Lord heal this baby from all his sicknesses, pain and suffering. You Lord have gone through suffering, pain and humiliation for our salvation
so You surely know what this baby is going through.

We believe nothing is impossible for You as You have the power to heal and give life. We know how You healed the blind man, we know how You brought a dead man to live again, we know that You have turned water to wine, and above all, we know for sure that You care and love this baby and so we pray.

ord touch this baby boy, Alden, and heal him in Your mighty name, Jesus, which is above all names. We claim healing and full recovery for this baby by Your precious blood. Heal him Lord
as You have said by the stripes on Your body we are healed. We now pray for healing for this baby.

Jesus, we also offer Marilyn and her family into Your hands. We know Lord, as much as the suffering the baby is going through, the mother Marilyn is also going through the same suffering and pain emotionaly. She is sad, terrified and in despair. We ask you Lord to give Marilyn and also her family strength and peace to go thorugh this moment. We believe Lord and we strongly believe that there is something better coming ahead for them, something more joyful coming ahead for them and that this is only a temporary trial, a test of faith.

Dearest mother Mary, please pray for this baby and the family.

All the saints and angels in heaven pray for this baby and family, and be with them, giving them comfort and calm assurance

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. AMEN.

Thanks be to Jesus.

International Conference on Recent Advances in Space Technology

Yippie... I will be going to Istanbul, Turkey this coming 9 - 15 June 2009 to present a paper entitled "Setting-Up The Assembly, Integration and Test Centre in Malaysia".

I managed to get my paper accepted for presentation in a IEEE jurnal. At least, I fulfilled some of my obligations as a research officer (The government wants all Q officers to present paper in any local/international conferences).

I am excited but how is Daniel gonna fare with mummy gone for almost a week ? I wish I bring Daniel along...

Incomplete Renewal of Baptism (cont.)

And I forgot to mentioned that the Priest skip the 3rd responserial psalm and went straight for the prayer.

I felt so bad when the cantor had practiced so hard for the entire week.

He waited for the 1st and 2nd cantor to come to the pulpit but he did not wait for the 3rd one.

And I didn't ask him why he had forgotten about the 3rd psalm. Probably in my heart, I was too tired to listen to another of his excuses.

Life ! Just made me realize, no one is perfect. So, we should all accept each other's fault and wrongdoings. Priests should be the first to show examplary examples to us.

I wish ....

Incomplete Renewal of Baptism

Yeah, that was my experience on Easter Vigil. Apparently, the Priest forgot to sprinkle the entire community with the newly blessed holy water.

Ironically, he said, "I am sorry, it was my fault, BUT if the commentator has reminded me about it, I would not have forgotten."

And the Priest would not even have mentioned about that incident had I not asked him. He was more concern about why one of the English hymm was sung without any music to it.

Prior to the start of the mass, I noticed the altar has been decorated (which is a no-no, coz the altar will only be decorated after the 3rd / 7th reading) and when I approached him that night, his answer was "To save time." I was astounded to hear his answer and couldn't say anything. After all, he is the kind that doesn't like people to question his ways. And because of that, one of the parishioners (which is very dear to me, and the backbone of the church) was upset and refuse to talk to the Priest. I can understand her feelings as she spend her entire afternoon trying to coordinate the decoration of the altar, the ringing of the bell and others.

The next morn when the Priest called me, he told me that it was the sacristian's fault as the Priest only wanted to have the small piece of white cloth on the altar, not the entire white cloth that was meant for decoration. And he further said that when I asked him about the altar, only then he realized what the sacristian had done and he said it was too late to do anything as mass was about to begin in 5 mins.

Now, why is it 2 version of answers from the same man ? And I don't agree when he said it was too late to rectify the error. He still has 5 mins, what is so hard to go up to the altar and remove the cloth ? Yeah, the church was filled but it shouldn't hinder one to go and rectify the error rather that just to leave it erroneous all the way!

And now, the Priest wants me to be his middleman, to tell the parishioner whom he had hurt, that it was the sacristian's fault. The priest's concern was no one will continue doing the parishioner's task in the church.

I am reluctant to do as he said and repeatedly mentioned to the Priest that he is the one who should talk to the parishioner. His reply was "What am I suppose to do if she didnt want to talk to me yesterday?" And I told the Priest, "There is still tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow."

What is going on in the church now ? Why is the Priest making excuses and putting the blame on others ?

Recent Updates on Daniel

"They Do Not Do What They Preach"

I am very disturbed with things going on right now. Even more disturbing coz it happens in the church itself, with the church people, with the priest himself.

Jesus taught us - "Love one another as I have loved you".

How can a man of God claim a lay woman is evil just because this lay woman does not agree to all he said? How can a man of God says I am concorting with evil just because I chooses to listen to my own heart, to vote for one whom my heart is saying, and that happens to be person whom the man of God had difficulty working with?

How can a man of God prayed for unity, prayed not to hold grudges, prayed to love another, prayed to work together but does not do what he himself preaches?

There are a lot of questions playing in my head, and today begins not in a very nice way after being reprimanded for choosing someone that "he" does not approve.

oh God, is this what you are calling me for ? You put me to do Your will, to serve Your people here, but yet, I am being told off that I am supporting the evils. Lord, You alone knows best. I am here not to seek man's approval, but Your approval. I listened to my heart, for I believe You spoke to me through my heart.

Let it be done according to Your will and not mine, nor anyone else's will.

I have no intention to disobey You, but I am afraid that a man of God understands otherwise. He seems to find that if I do not follow his order, that is an act of defy on me. Oh God, open up his heart to see goodness in others, not to be blinded by his rage over a particular person that clouded up his judgement.

This is seriously affecting me, and I have contemplate to resign from my post as Head of Liturgical. Should I or should I not ?

Audrey and Daniel

The two cousins... Wondering what are they talking about ...

F1 - Australia Circuit

The new season of F1 has started in Australia last week.

And BrawnGP, emerged from the highly controversial Honda team stole the limelight. Both the drivers came in 1st and 2nd, thus making BrawnGP the new favourites. BrawnGP, a name that derives from Ross Brawn, a highly intelligent man I would say in the F1 business. This was the same guy who help Ferrari and Michael Shumacher to win 7x.

Ferrari seems to be struggling - with their car pace, wrong strategy, KERs. And this seems to be the first time that I saw no points for Ferrari, be it drivers championship or constructor championship. They need to buck up fast, to catch BrawnGP.

I will still support Ferrari. Go go Ferrari !

New PM For Malaysia

Many of us has asked for a change in the leadership. Finally, it has happenned. Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak was sworn in as the 6th Prime Minister of Malaysia today (3rd April 2009), after having won the UMNO presidency unopposed on Saturday. Go to The Star for more news...

Former PM - Abdullah Ahmad Badawi was conferred the title 'Tun', which I guess is a normal practice for all outgoing PM.

Former PM's Wife - Was also conferred the title 'Tun', though I think (and prefer) if it was the late wife of our former PM who was conferred the title coz she has given lots more to Malaysia (in fact up to her dying breath). But then again, who I am to say otherwise ?

Lets us all join in our hands and pray that the new leadership will steer us through and away the storm.

p/s: Tun Mahathir was there at the palace as well, apparently.

Lack of update

Sorry folks....

Long time I did not have any updates. Probably me too lazy to type it out, though there so many things that I can say.

I shall rectify all this... from now... Hehehhee

With A Small Gesture ...

One day, when I was a freshman in high school, I saw a kid from my class was walking home from school. His name was Kyle. It looked like he was carrying all of his books.

I thought to myself, 'Why would anyone bring home all his books on a Friday? He must really be a nerd.'

I had quite a weekend planned (parties and a football game with my friends tomorrow afternoon), so I shrugged my shoulders and went on. As I was walking, I saw a bunch of kids running toward him. They ran at him, knocking all his books out of his arms and tripping him so he landed in the dirt. His glasses went flying, and I saw them land in the grass about ten feet from him...

He looked up and I saw this terrible sadness in his eyes. My heart went out to him. So, I jogged over to him as he crawled around looking for his glasses, and I saw a tear in his eye.

As I handed him his glasses, I said, 'Those guys are jerks. They really should get lives.'

'He looked at me and said, 'Hey thanks!' There was a big smile on his face. It was one of those smiles that showed real gratitude.

I helped him pick up his books, and asked him where he lived. As it turned out, he lived near me, so I asked him why I had never seen him before.. He said he had gone to private school before now. I would have never hung out with a private school kid before. We talked all the way home, and I carried some of his books. He turned out to be a pretty cool kid.

I asked him if he wanted to play a little football with my friends.

He said yes.

We hung out all weekend and the more I got to know Kyle, the more I liked him, and my friends thought the same of him. Monday morning came, and there was Kyle with the huge stack of books again.

I stopped him and said, 'Boy, you are gonna really build some serious muscles with this pile of books everyday!' He just laughed and handed me half the books.

Over the next four years, Kyle and I became best friends..

When we were seniors we began to think about college. Kyle decided on Georgetown and I was going to Duke. I knew that we would always be friends, that the miles would never be a problem.

He was going to be a doctor and I was going for business on a football scholarship.. Kyle was valedictorian of our class. I teased him all the time about being a nerd.

He had to prepare a speech for graduation. I was so glad it wasn't me having to get up there and speak.

Graduation day, I saw Kyle. He looked great. He was one of those guys that really found himself during high school. He filled out and actually looked good in glasses. He had more dates than I had and all the girls loved him. Boy, sometimes I was jealous! Today was one of those days.

I could see that he was nervous about his speech.

So, I smacked him on the back and said, 'Hey, big guy, you'll be great!'

He looked at me with one of those looks (the really grateful one) and smiled. ' Thanks,' he said.

As he started his speech, he cleared his throat, and began

'Graduation is a time to thank those who helped you make it through those tough years. Your parents, your teachers, your siblings, maybe a coach...but mostly your friends.... I am here to tell all of you that being a friend to someone is the best gift you can give them. I am going to tell you a story.'

I just looked at my friend with disbelief as he told the first day we met. He had planned to kill himself over the weekend. He talked of how he had cleaned out his locker so his Mom wouldn't have to do it later and was carrying his stuff home. He looked hard at me and gave me a little smile.

'Thankfully, I was saved. My friend saved me from doing the unspeakable..'

I heard the gasp go through the crowd as this handsome, popular boy told us all about his weakest moment. I saw his Mom and dad looking at me and smiling that same grateful smile. Not until that moment did I realize it's depth.

Never underestimate the power of your actions.. With one small gesture you can change a person's life. For better or for worse.

God puts us all in each others lives to impact one another in some way. Look for God in others.

Like That Also Can ?

Shouldn't we return things that doesn't belong to us?

Is this an act of defiant, not letting go of things that are no longer yours?

Common Beliefs Men Have About Women

I got this from a friend and I thought - "I need to share it with all my friends out there, especially the guys... "

Belief 1:
She'll never be satisfied.
Truth:
Women are always looking for ways to make things better. Don't take her suggestions as complaints and critisisms, but as her desire to make the relationship or situation the best is can be.

Belief 2:
A strong, confident woman doesn't need a man to take care of her.
Truth:
Everyone loves to be taken care of and to feel needed. Even if a woman can fix things around the house and change the oil in her car, she will still ask for your help so that she can feel your strength, support and protection. Don't ever stop asking "What can I do for you?" because it shows her that you care.

Belief 3:
Women only want to control men.
Truth:
It's not about control; it's about love. When a woman sees a man hurting, struggling or overwhelmed, her goal is to help, not control. Let her give you a helping hand.

Belief 4:
Keeping a woman requires a lot of hard work, time and money.
Truth:
A serious relationship requires time and effort to cultivate it. You shouldn't look at it as a burden. Your wife or your girlfriend will recipocrate the effort you put into it.

Belief 5:
You can't lie to a woman
Truth:
Women are extremely capable of picking up moods and attitudes and can easily read body language and facial expressions. Although you may think you have gotten away with a great lie, she is either letting it slide because she wants to keep the peace, or she is lying to herself because she is afraid of the truth.

Belief 6:
Jealousy and possesiveness are part of being a woman.
Truth:
Women are protective of what belongs to them. They protect the things they value, especially when it comes to relationships. It's not that she doesn't trust you; she is guarding the relationship. You are too precious for her to allow anything bad to happen.

Belief 7:
Women are emotional.
Truth:
Women don't hide their feelings. They articulate what is going on in their minds. There is nothing wrong with emotions - we all have them. Being in touch with their emotions causes women to be sensitive and caring, and that's why men love them.

Now I am sure all you ladies out there agree with these common beliefs. Lets share it with our men. If all men and women share the same, common beliefs, the world will be such a lovely place to be and there will be less domestic violence.

Cheers....

Biblical Reflections for Ash Wednesday

It Took 40 Days …

On Ash Wednesday the Church begins her great Lenten journey with Jesus on the road to Jerusalem. For centuries, Lent has been a very intense spiritual journey and experience for the followers of Jesus Christ.

Why are there 40 days in Lent?

  • It took 40 days for sinfulness to drown in the flood before a new creation could inherit the earth.
  • It took 40 years for the generation of slaves to die before the freeborn could enter the Promised Land.
  • For 40 days Moses, Elijah and Jesus fasted and prayed to prepare themselves for a life's work.

Lent invites us to turn from our own selves, from our sin, to come together in community. Self-denial is the way we express our repentance. Self-denial is threefold, advises Matthew's Gospel.

  • We pray: "Go to your room, close your door, and pray to your Father in private."
  • We fast: "No one must see you are fasting but your Father."
  • We give alms: "Keep your deeds of mercy secret, and your Father who sees in secret will repay you."

Through the Lenten exercise of prayer, fasting and almsgiving, we spring-clean our lives, sharpen our senses, put tomorrow in its place and treasure the day at hand.

One of the three Lenten practices open to most misinterpretation today is that of fasting. Fasting has become an ambiguous practice. In antiquity, only religious fasting was known; today, political and social fasting exists (hunger strikes), health and ideological fasting (vegetarians), pathological fasting (anorexia), aesthetic fasting (the cult of the body -- believing that thinner is better). There is, above all, a fast imposed by necessity: that of millions of human beings who lack the indispensable minimum and die of hunger.

These fasts in themselves have nothing to do with religious or aesthetic reasons. In aesthetic fasting at times one can even "mortify" the vice of gluttony only to obey another capital vice, that of pride or vanity.

Fasting, in itself, is something good and advisable; it translates some fundamental religious attitudes: reverence before God, acknowledgment of one's sins, resistance to the desires of the flesh, concern for and solidarity with the poor. ...

As with all human things, however, it can fall into "presumption of the flesh." Remember the words of the Pharisee in the temple: "I fast twice a week" (Luke 18:12).

Lent is a time for us to discover the reasons for the pious practices, disciplines and devotions of our Catholic Christian tradition. What have we done with the important Lenten practice of fasting? If Jesus were here to speak to disciples of today, what would he stress most?

We regard as more important the need to "share bread with the hungry and clothe the naked"; we are in fact ashamed to call ours a "fast," when what would be for us the height of austerity -- to be on bread and water -- for millions of people would already be an extraordinary luxury, especially if it is fresh bread and clean water.

In his message for Lent 2009, Benedict XVI writes: "At the same time, fasting is an aid to open our eyes to the situation in which so many of our brothers and sisters live. In his First Letter, St. John admonishes: 'If anyone has the world's goods, and sees his brother in need, yet shuts up his bowels of compassion from him -- how does the love of God abide in him?' Voluntary fasting enables us to grow in the spirit of the Good Samaritan, who bends low and goes to the help of his suffering brother.

"By freely embracing an act of self-denial for the sake of another, we make a statement that our brother or sister in need is not a stranger. It is precisely to keep alive this welcoming and attentive attitude towards our brothers and sisters that I encourage the parishes and every other community to intensify in Lent the custom of private and communal fasts, joined to the reading of the Word of God, prayer and almsgiving. From the beginning, this has been the hallmark of the Christian community, in which special collections were taken up, the faithful being invited to give to the poor what had been set aside from their fast. This practice needs to be rediscovered and encouraged again in our day, especially during the liturgical season of Lent."

Fasting helps us not to be reduced to pure "consumers"; it helps us to acquire the precious "fruit of the Spirit," which is "self-control," it predisposes us to the encounter with God.

We must empty ourselves in order to be filled by God. Fasting creates authentic solidarity with millions of hungry people throughout the world.

But we must not forget that there are alternative forms of fasting and abstinence from food. We can practice fasting from smoking and drinking. This not only benefits the soul but also the body. There is fasting from violent and sexual pictures that television, movies, magazines and Internet bombard us with daily as they distort human dignity. There is the fasting from condemning and dismissing others -- a practice so prevalent in today's Church.

"For now is the acceptable time! Now is the day of salvation!"

We need Lent to help us recognize that our identity and mission are rooted in Jesus' dying and rising. Prayer, fasting and almsgiving are the pillars of the Lenten journey for Christians.

Lent is a time to fast from certain things, but also a time to feast on others.

Fast from discontent, anger, bitterness, self-concern, discouragement, laziness, suspicion, guilt.
Feast on gratitude, patience, forgiveness, compassion for others, hope, commitment, truth, and the mercy of God.

Lent is just such a time of fasting and feasting!

God's Gift to Us, Catholics

** Updated **

Today's paper, The Star has published an article over this matter.

** Previous **

Herald has been granted permission to use the word 'Allah' in its publication. This is a victory for the Catholic Church.

It is indeed God's gift to us...

Praise be to God....

(But I have yet to see this news on any pof the major paper. Lets hope tonight's news will have something on this.)

Increase of Toll Rates ???

I was elated when one of the toll on NPE was abolished - which means I dun have to pay additional RM 1.60 if I wanna go to KL.

Today, the Works Minister announced that there will be an increase of toll for 5 highways.

Wow, I mean, I felt that I am being cheated. First, you announced the goodies, and let the people be happy for few days, then you take away our happiness by your second announcement.

I dunno if this is a smart way to go. You readers decide yourself. I wonder if this will affect the popularity of the current government.....

A Plea From Anas

I found Anas's plea when I was reading Marina Mahathir's blog - check it out here.

I too, who like to echo Anas's sentiments. It is time for our Yang Berhormats to turn your focus to us, the Rakyats, especially in these trying times.

If you agree with Anas, please forward the message around.

Dear Malaysian Politicians,

Please stop the power chase, call for a truce and focus on the economy.

I do not claim to speak on behalf of all Malaysians, but I have strong convictions that many share my sentiments. Our concern today is not who rules the country or heads the state governments but the looming bad economy.Whether Barisan Nasional or Pakatan Rakyat leads, it is meaningless if Malaysians have no job to go to, no money to pay rent and no means to put food on the table.

I am a business owner, like other business owners and managers of corporations I have a responsibility to ensure people under my care and payroll continue to have jobs and a decent income to take home. We work hard and willing to go the extra mile to make sure our nation not only survive this crisis but come out stronger and wiser. We need your help.

Let me explain. I am in the business of Training, Development and Consultancy and have 20 people in my team.

Saedah is 42. She keeps the office clean and helps organise the training rooms. She has four children and her husband is unemployed. She was first hired on a part time basis, because she is very hard working and has a great attitude, we offered her a full time job to help provide a stable income for her family. Even then, when her third child started school this year, it was a struggle for her to buy new school uniforms and other necessities. Saedah lives on a ‘kais bulan, makan bulan’ basis, so, if she is jobless, her tap runs dry.

Samsuri is 27 years old. He lives with his sister and her family in a low cost government flat in Sunway. He does our despatch, helps with various clerical works and occasionally acts as a driver. During the first week at zubedy, we learned that he not only did not have money to buy new clothes and shoes for work, he had no money for lunch. Like Saedah, if he has no job, his tap runs dry too.

Alicia in Client Servicing turns 26 this year. She lives with her dad who is 71 years old and retired. Her mom passed away when she was little. Alicia is a hard-working team member, has a gentle caring outlook and fun to be with. (We like to poke fun at her as she blushes easily). Last May her dad went through a major operation, thank God he has recovered well. Alicia needs a job, both for herself and her dad.

Sudesh, 38, is one of our facilitators. When his father passed away last year, he moved back and lives with his mother in Seremban. He shuttles between Kuala Lumpur and Seremban daily, leaving home sometimes as early as 4 in the morning and returning late at night. He is no stranger to hard work and sacrifice, he knows what he needs to do to survive and to care for his mother, but he too needs a job.

Like fellow Malaysians, every one of us in zubedy needs employment, those that live from hand to mouth like Saedah and Samsuri and others like Alicia and Sudesh with family to care for. We Malaysians need the Malaysian economy to be strong. We need you, our leaders, to work hard and to work together to make our economy viable.

So this is my plea.

Pakatan Rakyat, please stop your attempts to take over the federal government and persuade BN’s lawmakers to join you. Stop all legal proceedings, no more 916 and let go, just let go. The nation can wait till the next general elections if they want change. By doing so, Malaysians will see your party as caring, unselfish and gracious and give you their support in the next elections.

Barisan Nasional, please stop any attempts to take over PR states and win over PR’s lawmakers. You have proven your point with Perak. The nation can wait for the next general elections if they want your party. Focus all your talent, energy and hard work in steering the country out of an economic downturn. By doing so, Malaysians will see your party as caring, unselfish and smart and give you their support in the next elections.

BN and PR! Call for a truce. Get together and compromise. Someone has to give in. Or has hate consumed your heart till it blinds you? You can do it. You have enough intelligent people between you. I am sure you can find solutions. Take the nation to heart. That is why you are in politics in the first place.

Focus on the people.

Focus on the economy.

Lent Is 'Round D Corner

Again, it is time of the year - time of fast and abstinence.

As a Catholic, this is a time for us to reflect on Jesus's sufferings for mankind, the love He had for us, that He died to set us free.

Am I letting Him died in vain? Have I done enough to build His church on earth? Most of all, have I spread His love to everyone?

Looks like I need to do some serious soul-searching, and also to prepare myself for confession.

Daniel is 2 months old and he can lift up his head already ...

Amazing huh .... Daniel is only 2 months old and his head is already so high up, looking around.
